We switch vehicles at Besisahar and continue by jeep along a bumpy mountain road that winds through waterfalls, suspension bridges, and rocky gorges before finally reaching Chame, the district headquarters of Manang.

One of the highlights today is crossing several suspension bridges and walking through narrow gorges carved by the Marsyangdi River. The trek isn’t too strenuous, making it a perfect warm-up day.

Arriving in Pisang, you’ll find a picturesque village divided into Upper Pisang and Lower Pisang, each offering incredible views of Annapurna II and Pisang Peak.

  • Day 4 Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,540m / 11,614ft) – 6 to 7 hrs

Today, the trek becomes more dramatic as we move deeper into the valley. There are two route options:

Lower Trail (via Humde): Easier and faster, passing through the valley floor.

Upper Trail (via Ghyaru & Ngawal): Longer and more challenging but rewards trekkers with panoramic views of the Annapurna range.

Most trekkers prefer the upper trail, despite its steep climb, as the views of Annapurna II, III, IV, and Gangapurna are truly breathtaking.

Arriving in Manang, you’ll notice a stark cultural change. The village has strong Tibetan influence, reflected in its stone houses, monasteries, and the lifestyle of the locals. Manang is also the main acclimatization stop for trekkers.

  • Day 5 Acclimatization & Exploration in Manang (3,540m)

Visit Gangapurna Lake, a glacial lake beneath Gangapurna Glacier.

Explore Bhojo Gompa or Braga Monastery, perched on a hillside.

Optional full-day hike to Ice Lake (4,600m) for those with extra energy.

Manang is also known for its bakeries and small shops, where trekkers often enjoy a coffee or pastry while soaking in the mountain scenery.

Leaving Manang, the trail climbs steadily through alpine meadows, with fewer trees and more rugged landscapes. Yaks graze in the pastures, and the air becomes thinner.

The views of Tilicho Peak, Annapurna III, and Chulu Peaks are mesmerizing. Today’s trek is shorter, designed to continue the acclimatization process.

The trail is tough due to the altitude, but the panoramic views at the top are absolutely worth it. You’ll see the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, and the feeling of accomplishment is unmatched.

After celebrating at the top, we descend into the Mustang region and reach Muktinath, a sacred temple complex revered by Hindus and Buddhists. Pilgrims from across South Asia come here to bathe in the 108 holy water taps.
