About Kathmandu Valley Trek - 3 Days

If you are short on time but still want to experience the charm of Nepal’s hills, rural life, and Himalayan views, the Chisapani–Nagarkot–Changunarayan Trek is the perfect option. Located close to Kathmandu, this short trek combines lush forests, traditional villages, panoramic Himalayan scenery, and cultural heritage into just 3 days.

Starting from Sundarijal, the trail passes through Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, leading to Chisapani, a peaceful hill village offering sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas. From there, you continue to Nagarkot, one of the most famous hill stations in Nepal, known for its breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayan range. The journey ends with a hike to Changunarayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest Hindu temples in Nepal, before driving back to Kathmandu.

The best seasons are:

  • Spring (March–May): Rhododendrons in bloom, pleasant temperatures, and clear skies.

  • Autumn (September–November): Crisp mountain views, cool weather, and festive vibes in Nepal.

  • Winter (December–February): Cold but fewer crowds and excellent visibility (pack warm gear).

  • Monsoon (June–August): Not recommended due to heavy rain and poor visibility.

  • Chisapani & Nagarkot: Teahouses or guesthouses with basic but comfortable facilities. Rooms usually have twin sharing beds, and bathrooms may be shared.

  • Food: Meals include Nepali staples such as dal bhat (rice with lentil soup), noodles, soups, vegetables, and occasional Western dishes. Vegetarian options are widely available.

  • Trekkers should carry a valid entry permit for Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park.
