Kathmandu Valley Trek - 3 Days - Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 Kathmandu – Sundarijal – Chisapani (2,215 m / 7,267 ft)

    After breakfast, you’ll drive for about 1 hour to Sundarijal (1,350 m / 4,429 ft), the gateway to Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. The trek begins with a steep climb along stone steps, passing by small hydroelectric dams, streams, and lush forests. As you ascend, you’ll encounter villages of Tamang and Chhetri communities, terraced farmlands, and rhododendron forests.

    After about 4–5 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Chisapani, a small village perched on a ridge. Chisapani offers spectacular views of the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges. The sunset here is breathtaking, and if the sky is clear, you’ll also catch glimpses of Everest in the distance. You’ll spend the evening relaxing in a cozy teahouse.

  • Day 2 Chisapani – Nagarkot (2,175 m / 7,136 ft)

    Today’s trek is longer but highly rewarding. You’ll start early with a sunrise view over the Himalayas from Chisapani, then begin your 6–7 hour trek toward Nagarkot. The trail winds through dense forests, rural villages, and terraced hillsides, offering glimpses of everyday Nepali life.

    Nagarkot is one of Nepal’s most popular hill stations, famous for its 360-degree Himalayan panorama. On clear days, you can see peaks including Everest, Manaslu, Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and Gaurishankar. The sunset view over the Himalayas is unforgettable, painting the sky with golden and crimson hues.

  • Day 3 Nagarkot – Changunarayan – Kathmandu (1,350 m / 4,429 ft)

    Wake up early for the highlight of the trek – the sunrise over the Himalayas from Nagarkot. After breakfast, you’ll trek downhill for about 3–4 hours through charming villages, farmlands, and pine forests to reach Changunarayan Temple (1,540 m / 5,052 ft).

    Changunarayan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dating back to the 5th century. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this temple is a masterpiece of stone and wood carving, showcasing ancient Newari art and architecture. After exploring the temple and the surrounding village, you’ll drive back to Kathmandu (approx. 1 hour).
