Kathmandu Valley Trek - 5 Days - Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1 Kathmandu – Sundarijal – Chisapani (2,300m / 7,545 ft)

    Your journey begins with a scenic 1-hour drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal (1,350m / 4,429 ft), the entrance to Shivapuri National Park. The trek starts with an uphill climb past waterfalls, stone steps, and dense rhododendron forests. Along the way, you’ll pass small Tamang villages and terraced fields before reaching Chisapani, a charming hilltop village with panoramic mountain views.

  • Day 2 Chisapani – Nagarkot (2,175m / 7,135 ft)

    After enjoying a beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas, you’ll trek along scenic ridges and forested trails toward Nagarkot, one of the most famous viewpoints in Nepal. The trail passes through Brahmin and Tamang settlements, offering glimpses into rural Nepali life. At Nagarkot, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking sunset views over the snow-capped peaks. On clear days, the panorama stretches from Annapurna in the west to Everest in the east.

    Wake up early to witness a magical sunrise from Nagarkot. After breakfast, begin the trek toward Dhulikhel, a historic Newari town rich in culture and architecture. The trail follows forested paths, rural farmlands, and hill ridges offering uninterrupted views of the Himalayas. Dhulikhel is renowned for its ancient temples, artistic Newari houses, and peaceful environment.

    Today’s trek is both cultural and spiritual. You’ll walk through terraced hills, small villages, and pine forests to reach Namobuddha Monastery, one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal. According to legend, Lord Buddha, in one of his previous lives, sacrificed himself here to feed a starving tigress and her cubs. The monastery is a peaceful retreat with stunning views of the Himalayas and rolling hills.

  • Day 5 Namobuddha – Panauti – Drive back to Kathmandu

    After a hearty breakfast, hike down through beautiful villages and farmlands to reach Panauti (1,400m / 4,593 ft), one of the oldest Newari settlements in Nepal. Known for its ancient temples and untouched culture, Panauti feels like stepping back in time. After exploring the town, a private vehicle will drive you back to Kathmandu, where the trek concludes.
