Lower Dolpo Trek Itinerary


  • Day 1 Arrival Kathmandu(1330m)

    Namaste! We welcome you to the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. Kathmandu is an incredible city with Temples and Heritage sites in almost every nook and corner. Given the time, you can stroll around Thamel and Kathmandu Durbar Square before we meet for the paper works and documentation for the preparation of our trek starting the next day. Upon Arrival at the TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport), Kathmandu, our representative will receive you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. 

    • Day 2 Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj (1,50m)

      Today, we'll fly to Nepalgunj which is in Nepal's far southwest, for something like a 45-minute flight. And that is where we'll spend our first night.

      • Day 3 Fly from Nepalgunj to Jhupal (2320m) & trek to Dunai (2,850m)

        This morning, we fly to Jhupal, Dolpo, for something like a 35-minute flight, begins with a short riverbank trip to Dunai, where we spending the night. Dunai is the district's biggest city, featuring shops and restaurants to peruse in the evening.

        • Day 4 Trek from Dunai to Tarakot (2,540m)

          We're following the Bheri River today, passing over several tiny villages with monasteries, Mani stones, as well as farmed farmland. Sicherung, a historic sovereign country, has had capital in Tarakot. Tarot's residents are mostly from the Magar caste and worship Tibetan Buddhism. Overnight here.

          • Day 5 Trek from Tarakot to Laini Odar (3,375m)

            We'll be climbing for 4 - 5 hours today, passing via Kanigaon (2950m) on our approach to Laini Odar. During Hiking, travelers can see the panoramic view over the mountain of Putha, Hiunchuli, and Churen Himal. We'll stay the night at Laini Odar that has a beautiful waterfall.

            • Day 6 Trek from Laini Odar to Nawarpani (3,475m)

              Trekking to Nawarpani from Lainicap takes 8 hours but allows you to appreciate the wilderness. Relax in a tented camp at Nawarpani again for the night. 

              • Day 7 Trek from Nawarpani to Dho Tarap (3,950m)

                You walk from Nawarpani to Dho Tarap for 5-7 hours and then have meals at Sisaul. A quick trip to Sipchowk, that's one of the world's highest villages at 4200 meters above sea level. The tented camp that's where you'll spend the night.

                • Day 8 Acclimatization Day at Dho Tarap.

                  Today, we could both recover and be energetic by exploring the 1000-year-old Ringo Bumpa Monastery, which had been established by Jigme Nyima Gyaltsen and Lama Tenzing Tragye to keep against evil spirits roving the region. Monastries like Mekhyim Monastery, Dhoro Monastery, and indeed the Bon Gompa monastery, Shipichowk are the main attraction of this village. 

                  • Day 9 Trek from Dho Tarap to Numa La Base Camp (4,350m)

                    We're going on approximately 5 hikes today, heading via the Crystal Mountain School, the healthcare clinic, plus Tokyu Village (4209m). The local monastery of Sharing Gompa offers you a spectacular view of surroundings and is also the home of Buddhist monks. 

                    • Day 10 Trek from Numa La Base Camp to Danighar (4510m) via Numa La Pass (5,310m)

                      Today we have a tough six to seven-hour hike to Numa La Pass, which offers magnificent views of Norbu Kang, and Churen Himal along with Mt. Dhaulagiri. We'll be camping at Numa La Pass overnight.

                      • Day 11 Trek from Numa La Pass to Temche (4000m) via Baga La Pass (5,170m)

                        The walk today will take approximately 6 - 8 hours and would be pretty physically exhausting as we climb a rough trail to Gaga La Pass, after which we could enjoy breathtaking views of Norbung Lang Peak and the turquoise blue Phoksundo Lake. Overnight at Temche. 

                        • Day 12 Trek from Temche to Phoksundo Lake (3600m)

                          Next, we wander down to Yak Kharka, continuing up to Ringmo, crossing among cedar, pine, as well as oak woodlands before actually emerging at the breathtaking blue Phoksundo Lake. Overnight here. 

                          • Day 13 Explore Phoksundo Lake.

                            Despite its high elevation, Phoksundo Lake hasn't ever frozen to date. We can see the picturesque Tibetan Ringmo Settlement again from the lake. Many glaciers could be seen whenever you look from the lake. While staying here, tourists can indeed look at various Bon monasteries.

                            • Day 14 Trek from Phoksundo to Chhepka (2,838m)

                              While we depart Phoksundo Lake back, we begin our walk to Chunuwar and Recchi across a rolling trail which thus goes via birch, pine, & bamboo forests. We'll spend the night in Chhepka.

                              • Day 15 Trek from Chhepka to Jhupal (2,499m)

                                Today's trip would take us nearly five to six hours through the villages of Shyanta and Khangadanda, traversing among farmed grain and fields of wheat till emerging in Jhupal.

                                • Day 16 Fly from Jhupal to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu.

                                  On this day, you will fly back to Nepalgunj after catching a 35-minutes flight and again back to Kathmandu by plane from Nepalgunj as this is the last day of your trek.
