Upper Dolpo Trek Itinerary


  • Day 1 Arrival Kathmandu(1330m)

    We will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, as per your flight ticket, to provide a warm reception to you in our lovely country for your delightful holiday. We will accompany you to our car to drop you off at our trip hotel after exchanging warm welcome sentiments at the welcome portion. As this is the leisure day so you'll be on your own and free to do whatever you like for a change of pace so far. However, we will be delighted to show you around the city.

  • Day 2 Preparation day(special permit preparation)

    The following morning begins with a magnificent breakfast. Afterward, with the help of your trekking company's guide, you can take a visit to Kathmandu which offers you the visit of Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath; some of the UNESCO-listed world heritage sites.

    Additionally, make sure you have all of the necessary equipment for the excursion including trekking permits, and trekking gear. You can buy or lease trekking equipment in Thamel, a tourist center in the middle of Kathmandu. Moreover, be certain you're well-prepared for your vacation.

  • Day 3 Flight to Nepalgunj - (150m)

    Flying from 1,300 meters in Kathmandu to barely 150 meters in Nepalgunj, regardless of the time of the year, will be hot on arrival! We will fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj in the afternoon and spend the evening there just before getting an early morning flight to Jhupal from where your trek begins. It is just because of the hot temperature in Nepalgunj.

  • Day 4 Fly from Nepalgunj to Juphal(2475m) and trek to Dunai(2140m)

    Leaving Nepalgunj, you will fly to Juphal Airport in the early hours of the morning. You fly over spectacular scenery, including the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges.

    Dolpa now has a single airport, Juphal Airport. And it was the only way for Dolpo inhabitants to move to different parts of Nepal. It takes around 3/4 hour to walk from the airport to Dunai.

  • Day 5 Dunai to Chhepka (2630 m) 6h00 walk.

    After crossing the Bheri River on a bridge, take the left footpath to Shulighat, the Shey Phoksundo National Park's entrance gate. The route passes down Phoksundo Khola to Chhepka, crossing via numerous small villages.

  • Day 6 Trek Chhepka to Lama school - (2838m)

    On this day, you will be 4-5 hiking around days following the beautiful trekking trails and enjoying the magnificent views passing small villages.

  • Day 7 Trek Lama school to Phoksundo Lake - (3620m)

    Today we arrive at Phoksundo Lake, which has amazing clean waters. Nonetheless, we immediately continue the valley bottom, crossing by the Phoksundo and Pungmo rivers while also pine trees. We get our glimpse of the lake glittering in the light below us from the top of a massive mountain.

  • Day 8 Exploring Day(around phoksundo lake)

    Afterward, guests can marvel at the loveliness of Phoksundo Lake and have the prospect to wander through Ringo's little village and Tibetan temples. The Bon Buddhist, commonly known as pre-Buddhist, is worshipped by the natives of this location.

  • Day 9 Trek Phoksundo to Salla Ghari - (3640m)

    This is the ninth day of the adventure. From the west, the hiking trails across Shey Phoksundo Lake. You take a long walk anywhere along the western end of the lake's rocky hill footpath. The pathway leads to the Phoksundo Khola wetland via a lovely grassland and Salla Ghari

  • Day 10 Trek Salla Ghari to Lar Tsa (4120m)

    This is one of the unique trekking trails in Nepal as it leads you inside the George as the river flows. Your walk will be uphill but not so steep.

  • Day 11 Trek Lar Tsa to Shey Gompa (4320m)

    During the first 2 - 3 hours, the trail climbs up steadily over Sandy Mountain to Kang-La, at an altitude of 5350 m. Altitude sickness could very well be setting in at this time, as the feet fell with each move. We emerge at Shey Gompa after only a four-hour hike down the mountainside from either the hill.

  • Day 12 Rest Day - Shey Gompa

    Explore Shey Gompa and take a stroll around the town. A good and famous monastery in Upper Dolpo is Shey Gompa. Every year, hundreds of Buddhist pilgrims gather at Shey Gompa. Sparkling Mountain is located in the eastern part of Shey Gompa ( Ribo Drugta). Annually, the locals gather and achievements and accomplishments at this peak before harvesting their crops.

  • Day 13 Trek sey Gumpa to Namgung - (4430m)

    We'll take the trail through a beautiful Juniper woodland. We'll go uphill to Sela La Pass, following a magnificent track (5090m). Visitors could delight in the spectacular stunning views of the countryside out from the hilltop. Then we'll make our way down the pass to Namduna Gaun. Overnight at Namgung Village.

  • Day 14 Trek Namgung to Saldang - (4046m)

    As we approach 4700 meters pass, the walk brings us up a steep ascent that feels quite difficult. Then we take a stroll through Saldang, a charming village. Because of its vital location on the trade route to Tibet, it is one of the region's largest communities.

  • Day 15 Trek Saldang to Sibu - (4000m)

    Terraced fields, stupas, chortens, mani walls, monasteries, and various towns are all part of the walk. We go along the gorge, which has a verdant field of local barley at its bottom. Also, we pass through different lush vegetation during your trip.

  • Day 16 Trek sibu to foot of the Jengla - (4480m)

    This is the final stage of the voyage; mindset must be geared. We stroll up a gentle incline by a river. We must cross the river twice for a substantial section of the trail. However, as you got closer to the conclusion, the slope becomes steeper.

  • Day 17 Trek Foot of the jungle to Tokyo Gaon - (4240m)

    Today begins with something like a two-hour walk to the summit of Jeng La Pass (5110). Beautiful panoramas of the Dhaulagiri massif could be seen from Jeng La Pass. Afterward, you'll be on your way to Tarap Valley. You continue the stream to Tokyu village once you encounter a riverbank. Overnight at Tokyu Village.

  • Day 18 Trek Tokyo Gaon to Dho Tarap - (4200m)

    This trail is one of the easiest among all during your trek to Upper Dolpo. You will walk through different chortens on the way as the valley is very fertile. After a walk of 4-5 hours, you will reach Dho Tarap where you will spend a night.

  • Day 19 Trek Do tarap to Serkam - (3623m)

    This trail passes into such a rocky gorge by the Tarap River. Across both slopes, there seem to be hanging ridges; this one even hides beneath and under the hills at periods. The trail follows the roaring river through cliffs.

  • Day 20 Trek Serkam to Tarakot - (2280m)

    Next, walk the route to Lalberi village and proceed through forests and a gorge till we join the river. We would go to another monastery today, which is built on a hill just above the Bheri River. Also, you will be amazed by the sound of the fast-flowing river.

  • Day 21 Trek Tarakot to Dunai - (2109m)

    We'll start trekking towards Dunai from Tarakot. We'll walk by the gushing Bheri River. We will arrive in Dunai after several hours of walking through the beautiful surroundings including different settlements of people living there, awesome fast-flowing rivers, fertile land, and somewhere lush vegetation. In Dunai, spend the night in a lodge or a teahouse.

  • Day 22 Trek Dunai to Juphal - (2404m)

    This trail that leads to Thuli Bheri extends. To go off to Juphal, you should travel via Dhupichaur, Rupgad, Kalagaonda, and Motipur. At Juphal, the long and tough adventure comes to an end. Stay at Juphal for the night.

  • Day 23 Flight Jufal - Nepalgang - kathmandu

    One would fly from Juphal to Nepalgunj on the first available flight. The following day, you will enjoy the magnificent view from the plane on the way back to Kathmandu. Chill in your hotel and then go for a walk around the city if you desire. If you're going with a tour operator, you'll normally be treated to a farewell meal.

  • Day 24 Kathmandu - Departure to your destination
